The power of true leadership is both absolute and infinite. And its underlying principles are timeless and without limitation regardless of important and necessary changes in societal needs, expectations, requirements and norms.

THE DOUBLE MEANING

I chose the name Leadership’s Calling® because its double-meaning captures precisely and faithfully the program’s purpose and underlying tenets. The first part of the double meaning relates to the definition of a calling – a strong, inner impulse toward a particular course of action, especially when accompanied by conviction. The calling of a true leader is to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of people and on the success and long-term vitality of the organization he or she serves.

“Leadership is calling” is the second meaning. Here’s why each of us should answer the call. Leadership is the most powerful human force. It can be the spark, fuel and engine to do good, correct wrongs, unite people, effect positive change, unleash tremendous human potential, translate dreams to action, ignite breakthrough ideas, create better tomorrows, and leave footprints on other people’s hearts. And leadership is accessible to anyone – the senior executive, the entrepreneur, the administrator, the physician, managers at all levels, the individual contributor, the politician, the parent, the nurse, the small business owner, the teacher, the researcher, the volunteer – and it is relevant in all contexts of professional and personal life.

Each of us, regardless of position, title, profession or circumstances, can aspire to earn leadership’s invitation and commit to delivering on its promise.
